Throughout 2020, the Wisconsin SBDC’s 40th anniversary, the network is shining a spotlight on the talented team that makes our work possible. Previously, we talked to Jason Schleip, Lead Consultant for the Wisconsin Restaurant Initiative & Southwest WI SBDC Business Consultant. This month, we are thrilled to learn more about Emily Schoenborn, Associate Outreach Specialist for the SBDC at UW-Superior!
Year started with the SBDC: 2018
Proudest work accomplishment: The expansion of the ETP program through the SBDC at UW-Superior has been rewarding for Emily. She finds it exciting to see large numbers of participants in the classes. The program was formerly only offered in Superior, but now it is also offered in Hayward and the center hopes to also expand to the Ashland area in 2020.
Favorite way to spend time in the community: Emily loves all things outdoors in Superior, including Lake Superior itself! She enjoys the area’s outdoor recreation through all four seasons, even though winter is sometimes a bit tough.
Recommended movie: The powerful message in The Pursuit of Happyness has caused Emily, who doesn’t frequently watch movies, to see the film many times.
Something exciting in the future at work: Emily assists with programming at the SBDC at UW-Superior and she is thrilled about all the new educational offerings that will be available in 2021.
Something she enjoys about her job: She loves hearing and sharing the stories of SBDC clients that she knows personally. Since the SBDC serves her hometown as well as the county she currently lives in, Emily often knows the success of these clients firsthand.
Favorite quote: When you visit Emily’s office, you will see the quote that inspires her hung on the wall. “Nothing changes if nothing changes.”
